A COMPLETE GUIDE TO KITCHEN LAYOUTS

One of the very first things you need to do when remodeling your kitchen is to determine which layout will work best for you. There are a few different options to choose from but remember to take into considereation the size of the kitchen you are working with.

L-Shape

The first layout option is an L-Shaped kitchen. This layout includes two walls where the cabinets and appliances will be placed, forming an “L” shape. This kitchen layout usually has a kitchen island in the middle and it is a very popular and modern style in many homes.

U-Shape

A U-Shaped kitchen layout includes three walls which consist of all the cabinets and appliances being used. This creates a “U” shape and is a very common kitchen layout as well. With this kitchen layout, there might be limited space. Because of this, kitchen islands aren’t used as often. But if you are working with a bigger kitchen, an island can definitely add both style and storage space to your kitchen.

G-Shape

A G-Shape kitchen layout is very similar to a U-Shape kitchen, but it also has a fourth side that can be considered a peninsula. This fourth side is not next to the wall, and it doesn’t extend all the way to the other side. This peninsula space can be used as a dining table or for storage if working with limited space.

Galley

A Galley kitchen layout, also known as a Parallel kitchen layout, consists of two walls that are parallel to each other and are mainly used for smaller spaces like apartments.

Single Wall

Lastly, a Single Wall kitchen layout consists of having all cabinets and appliances on one single wall and is also used for smaller spaces like a Galley kitchen.
