HOW TO CLEAN KITCHEN CABINETS
Cabinet cleaning can be time-consuming but it doesn’t have to be complicated. This chore only needs to be done a couple of times a year or spot cleaned when you see a mess. Keeping your kitchen cabinets clean not only enhances the overall appearance of your kitchen but also prolongs the lifespan of the cabinetry.
Spot clean:
To maintain your cabinets, it’s best to follow a cleaning schedule.
- For everyday spills and smudges, wipe cabinets with a damp cloth as soon as you notice the mess.
- Once a week, use a mild cleaning solution such as a dish soap mixed with warm water or vinegar with water on the cabinet doors and handles. This quick spot-clean prevents grime from setting in, especially in high-traffic areas like near the stove.
- For knobs and tricky corners, a toothbrush works well to remove grease and dirt buildup.
Deep clean:
Seasonally, or about once or twice a year, a deeper clean is recommended.
- Begin by emptying the cabinets
- Then use a microfiber cloth dampened with a gentle cleaner to wipe down the shelves, inside of the doors, and all external surfaces.
- Pay extra attention to cabinet hardware and intricate trims, using a small brush for detailed areas.
- Be sure to dry thoroughly after rinsing to prevent water damage.
