Kitchen cabinets need panels for several reasons:
- Structural support: Panels give essential structural support to the side, back, and base cabinets so that they are stable enough to withstand the weight of things stored in them.
- Panels boost aesthetic appeal: Panel presence subtly boosts kitchen cabinet aesthetics. They contribute to the holistic design and impact of the cabinets.
- Protection: Panels protect vital parts of the cabinets from damage, shielding the cabinet interiors from dust, moisture, and potential damage.
- Customization: Because materials, finishes, and design options are displayed separately in panels in the flat-back system, homeowners can select and purchase those that suit their tastes and fit the kitchen’s theme and color.
- Durability: Panels increase the durability of the cabinets by giving an additional layer of material that can withstand day-to-day wear and tear.
- Hiding: Panels can mask gaps, hinges, and other hardware for a smooth, continuous front.
- Insulation: In some cases, panels furnish more insulation than do cabinets, and can equalize temperature in cabinets for better stability, and better protect contents from extreme kitchen temperatures.
